Olga Peretyatko, one of the world’s most sought-after sopranos, made her international breakthrough after winning Plácido Domingo’s prestigious Operalia competition. Since then, she has been a regular guest at the world’s leading opera houses and concert halls.
During the 2023/24 season, Olga Peretyatko will make her role debut as Norma at the Hamburg State Opera. She will also return to the Zurich Opera House to reprise one of her signature roles, Fiorilla in Rossini’s *Il turco in Italia*, and will perform again at the Berlin State Opera, where she will sing Elettra in Mozart’s *Idomeneo* and Leila in Bizet’s *Les pêcheurs de perles*. In Italy, she will sing Magda de Civry in a new production of “La rondine” at the Teatro Regio Torino and Donna Anna in a new production of “Don Giovanni” at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna. On the concert stage, Olga Peretyatko will make her debut in the role of Leonora in a concert performance of Verdi’s “Il trovatore” at the Musikfest Bremen. She will also be performing Rachmaninoff’s “The Bells” with the Orchestre de Paris in the Grande salle Pierre Boulez in Paris, and presenting a programme entitled “Mozart and Salieri” with the Danish Chamber Orchestra under Ádám Fischer at the Mozart Week in Salzburg. Furthermore, the soprano will give several recitals worldwide, including a recital with the tenor Marius Vlad Budoiu at the George Enescu Festival in Bucharest and a recital at the Teatro de la Zarzuela in Madrid, where she will present works by Clara Schumann and Pauline Viardot, accompanied by the pianist Semjon Skigin.
Last season, Olga Peretyatko made her role debut as Elettra in Mozart’s opera *Idomeneo* and later appeared as Liu in Puccini’s *Turandot*, both at the Berlin State Opera. She made her debut in the role of Marguerite in Gounod’s *Faust* at the Hamburg State Opera and sang the role of Anna Bolena at the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires. At the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro, she sang the title role in a new production of “Adelaide di Borgogna”. On the concert stage, Olga Peretyatko has performed in Amsterdam, Zurich, Lucerne, Strasbourg, Brussels, Naples, Tallinn and Singapore. She has also given several concerts featuring “Carmina Burana” together with the Tonkünsler Orchestra at the Musikverein in Vienna.
Peretyatko’s uniquely captivating voice and stage presence enable her to embody a wide range of roles, from comic to tragic. She has appeared at the Metropolitan Opera, Covent Garden, La Scala in Milan, the Vienna State Opera, the Berlin State Opera, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Opéra Bastille in Paris and many other venues, as well as at renowned festivals in Salzburg, Baden-Baden, Aix-en-Provence and Pesaro.
Olga Peretyatko has worked with some of the world’s most renowned conductors and directors, including Robert Lepage, whose acclaimed production of Stravinsky’s *Le Rossignol* in Toronto in 2009 cemented her status as one of the leading sopranos of our time. She sang the role of Marfa in Dmitri Tcherniakov’s provocative production of “The Tsar’s Bride”, which was staged in 2013/2014, first at the Berlin State Opera and subsequently at La Scala. In 2017, she sang the title role of Leïla in Wim Wenders’s operatic debut, Bizet’s “Les Pêcheurs de Perles”, under the musical direction of Daniel Barenboim. Peretyatko’s concert programme included, among other things, a performance beneath the Eiffel Tower during the Bastille Day celebrations before a live audience of 600,000 people and an international television audience of several million viewers. In North America, she sang Strauss’s “Four Last Songs” at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. with the National Symphony Orchestra. The same repertoire was also featured on the programme for a tour of China with the Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal and Maestro Kent Nagano. In 2018, Olga Peretyatko gave a highly acclaimed debut solo concert at Milan’s Teatro alla Scala.
Olga Peretyatko has released six critically acclaimed albums on Sony Classical and received numerous prestigious awards, including the OPUS Klassik (2018), the ECHO Klassik (Best Solo Album, 2015) and the Premio Franco Abbiati della Critica Musicale Italiana. In 2021, she released her new solo album ‘Songs for Maya’, dedicated to the birth of her first-born daughter. Produced by the legendary Russian label Melodiya, this album brings together 23 lullabies from different parts of the world, personally selected by Olga and sung in their original languages.
Olga Peretyatko was born and raised in Saint Petersburg, Russia. She began her musical career by studying choral conducting at the Saint Petersburg Conservatoire, where she obtained her first diploma. This formative experience shaped her understanding of vocal music and ensemble dynamics and became a crucial aspect of her artistic development.
She honed her craft at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin, at the opera studio of the Hamburg State Opera and at the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro, establishing herself as one of the most sought-after sopranos of her generation.
