Opening remarks

A message from the patron

Following the hugely successful relaunch of the Neuschwanstein Castle Concerts over the past two years, we can look forward to further musical highlights
in 2026. The impressive backdrop of the castle and the surrounding countryside makes the concerts an unforgettable experience.

Even King Ludwig II, who loved the solitude of nature, would be proud of this event – even if it can no longer take place in the castle’s magnificent Sängersaal as it once did. Instead, the view of the castle, nestled amongst the Bavarian mountains and serving as a stunning backdrop, offers a perfectly adequate substitute.

The recent concert was a striking demonstration of the artists’ great commitment; they performed the programme with admirable dedication despite the pouring rain.

Richard Wagner received significant support from Ludwig II in bringing to life his new ‘Gesamtkunstwerk’ – a synthesis of stage design, libretto and music. In doing so, he paved the way for what we now know as film music – a genre that is also being showcased this year.
A big thank you goes to the entire event team. Organising such a high-calibre open-air concert whilst also securing the necessary funding is a truly Herculean task.

I wish those in charge continued success for the future and hope they attract many enthusiastic visitors.

Kind regards

Dear Sir or Madam,
dear culture lovers and guests,

The Neuschwanstein Concerts offer a unique blend of music, culture and Bavarian history. The courtyard of Neuschwanstein Castle is transformed into a truly exceptional venue: in a place that usually welcomes thousands of visitors from all over the world every day, these concerts create an atmosphere that allows our world-famous castle to be experienced in a very special way.

It is precisely this unique combination of World Heritage status and a top-class cultural programme that makes this concert series such an exceptional experience. The varied programme – ranging from Richard Wagner to Walt Disney – delights classical music lovers as well as a new generation of concert-goers.

I would like to extend my special thanks to everyone involved, whose tremendous dedication has made this extraordinary event possible. I wish you all some unforgettable concert evenings against a unique backdrop.
