In “The Sound of Neuschwanstein”, director Andreas Morell—who spent time both on stage and behind the scenes at the Neuschwanstein Concerts 2025—brings the history, myth, magic and music of Neuschwanstein Castle to the big screen.
For us, this documentary is far more than just a film: it embodies our vision of giving Bavaria’s landmark and World Heritage Site a new voice through our festival, and of enabling people from all over the world to experience this extraordinary place in a unique way. It stands for the power of great ideas and for what can be achieved when passion and conviction turn a vision into reality. Very much in the spirit of King Ludwig II, whose inventiveness and creative drive continue to shape this world-famous attraction to this day.
For everything usually begins with a dream. King Ludwig II was a passionate art lover and ‘King of the Theatre’, who saw the world as a stage. With Neuschwanstein Castle, he created a place where his vision of art, architecture, nature and state-of-the-art technology would come together to form a unique Gesamtkunstwerk. With just as much passion, perseverance, innovative spirit and deep roots in tradition, we too have worked on the Neuschwanstein Concerts to give Neuschwanstein a voice once more.
It is precisely this special atmosphere that the film “The Sound of Neuschwanstein” captures so impressively, 140 years after the death of King Ludwig II. Morell’s film combines history, music and architecture to create a documentary portrait of a place that continues to fascinate artists and audiences from all over the world to this day.
