Ludovic Tézier is considered one of the world’s most sought-after baritones of our time.
He has performed at the world’s leading opera houses, including the Metropolitan Opera in New York, the Vienna State Opera, the Opéra National de Paris, the Berlin State Opera, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, La Scala in Milan, the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, the Liceu in Barcelona, the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Royal Opera House in London, the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, the Arena di Verona, as well as at the Salzburg Easter and Summer Festivals, the Aix-en-Provence Festival, and the Savonlinna Opera Festival.
Ludovic Tézier regularly collaborates with internationally renowned conductors, including Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Antonio Pappano, Riccardo Muti, Riccardo Chailly, Philippe Jordan, Gustavo Dudamel, Daniele Rustioni, Michele Mariotti, Fabio Luisi, and Cristian Macelaru, to name a few.
The French baritone is known for his interpretations of major Verdi roles such as Macbeth, Rigoletto, Simone Boccanegra, Renato (Un ballo in maschera), Ford (Falstaff), Germont (La Traviata), Posa (Don Carlo), and Don Carlo di Varga (La forza del destino). His extensive repertoire also includes the title roles of Eugene Onegin, the Count (The Marriage of Figaro), Werther (baritone version), Yeletsky (The Queen of Spades), Wolfram (Tannhäuser), Scarpia (Tosca), Amfortas (Parsifal), Carlo Gérard (Andrea Chénier), Enrico (Lucia di Lammermoor), and Athanaël (Thaïs).
Recent highlights include new productions of Hamlet at the Opéra national de Paris, Aida and Trovatore at the Royal Opera House in London, Rigoletto at the Teatro Real, Tosca in Munich, and the season opening at La Scala in Milan with Forza del Destino.
Several CD and DVD recordings testify to the artistic work of this successful and versatile singer. His first solo album of Verdi arias, released in February 2021 by Sony Classical, received critical acclaim. He recorded the album Insieme – Opera Duets with tenor Jonas Kaufmann, also released by Sony Classical in October 2022.
